The Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary celebration, titled “The Most Magical Party of All” officially began on June 28, 2025. I was lucky enough to take a trip to the resort from July 7-9, 2025 to experience all the new entertainment offerings that debuted in conjunction with the anniversary celebration. From the all-new Friendtastic Parade to the enhanced Momentous: Party in the Night Sky, Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) is going all out for their anniversary celebration.

I’ve been lucky enough to experience a lot of Disney anniversaries over the years. I’ve been present for HKDL’s 5th and 10th anniversaries, as well as Tokyo’s 30th, Paris’ 25th, and Disneyland’s 70th, which also premiered this year. So the question now is, how does HKDL’s 20th stack up to the other anniversaries? Well that’s what this post is going to cover.

Klook.comOverview of the Anniversary

The anniversary celebration was first announced by the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on February 5, 2025. As part of the anniversary, three new entertainment offerings would be debuting alongside the anniversary celebration: an all-new parade called Friendtastic (which also happens to be the largest parade in HKDL history), an upgraded version of Momentous called Momentous: Party in the Night Sky, and a new anniversary-only castle stage show called Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle. To go with the anniversary, all new merchandise, music, and food and beverage options were also announced to be introduced at the park.

The anniversary celebration is set to run for almost a year, with the current end date being May 2026, with the possibility of it being extended. Disney has yet to announce how these anniversary offerings will run during the Christmas and Halloween seasons, but presumably these shows will still take place during those times.
This review will go over the three main anniversary offerings, as well as the food and beverage options, the merch, the music, and the decor. I will then give my overall thoughts on the anniversary at the end of the review. So without further ado, let’s dive right into The Most Magical Party of All!
Friendtastic Parade

Undoubtedly the highlight of the entire celebration is the Friendtastic parade. This is the first parade to run at Hong Kong Disneyland since the closure of both the Flights of Fantasy parade and the Paint the Night parade due to the pandemic. Revolving around the theme of friendship, the parade features floats from movies like Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Encanto, Up, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Inside Out, and Turning Red.
The parade also features the first ever Duffy and Friends themed float, as well as 4 new original songs composed for the parade. The parade also has one show stop that happens towards the middle of the parade, ballooning the runtime of the entire show to over 30 minutes.
If you’d like to read my in-depth review of the parade, click here.

Friendtastic is a home run for HKDL. The floats are all incredibly well designed, as are the costumes used for the parade. In particular, the Zootopia and Encanto floats are the ones that stand out the most in their design, while the costumes for the Zootopia, Big Hero 6, and Duffy and Friends units are all incredibly detailed and innovative.
The music used in the parade is also top notch. They all have such positive and optimistic lyrics that also carry incredibly heartfelt messages. They’re also just incredibly catchy and bring a nice energy to the entire parade. I would highly recommend checking out the songs on your preferred music streaming app as they are so infectious.

The performances of the cast are also top notch. The choreography is stellar and brings a certain electrifying energy to the parade that makes it feel alive. They also interact a lot with the audience, giving them high fives and making heart hands with most of the people along the parade route.
Audience interaction is just one of the ways the parade exemplifies the theme of friendship. By making the audience feel welcome, they’re reinforcing the main idea and message of the parade: that friends are your biggest support system and that friends are the most important people in our lives. That’s what separates Friendtastic from other parades: it has something to say. It has an overarching theme and message that spreads positivity and joy. And that’s what makes it so special.

Momentous: Party in the Night Sky
The next entertainment offering to be part of the Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary celebration is Momentous: Party in the Night Sky. Building on the smash hit Momentous show, Party in the Night sky adds a 10 minute pre-show to the original Momentous. Featuring drones and projections down the length of Main Street, the show is a fun but a bit disjointed celebration of Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th anniversary.
In the show, Mickey enlists the help of the Fairy Godmother to recruit other magical Disney characters to host the Most Magical Party of All. In the ten minute per-show there are segments themed to Coco, Aladdin, and Sleeping Beauty, accompanied by crisp projections, fireworks, and the biggest reason to watch the show: drones.

Momentous: Party in the Night Sky doesn’t meaningfully enhance the original Momentous show. It doesn’t expand on the themes of Momentous, choosing instead to tell a separate story. The narration, however, switches between English and Cantonese and doesn’t really encapsulate the full story of the show in either language. I felt like I was missing key pieces of info that would have made the show more compelling.
In addition, the drone technology, while incredibly impressive, was used haphazardly throughout. The drones did not add anything to the narrative and honestly felt like an afterthought. It would’ve been better if there was a story purpose behind using the drones but as it stands they’re just kind of there to add to the spectacle of the show.

That being said, I think everyone should still watch the show because of the drones, which still left me with my jaw on the floor more than once due to how stunning they are. While I’m happy that the regular Momentous reminds unchanged for the most part, I think they should have integrated the drone technology into the main show. They did for the projections, so I don’t see why they couldn’t do that too with the drones too. But for what it’s worth it’s a nice show that is a good-not-great way to cap off a day at Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th Anniversary celebration.

Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle
The last special entertainment offering for the 20th Anniversary celebration is the new, anniversary-only castle stage show. Called Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle, this stage show revolves around Mickey and his pals getting everything they need for a party to celebrate the anniversary.

It’s a simple story with a solid execution. It features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Aurora, Tiana, Belle, Duffy, and Duffy’s friends. The cast of Duffy’s friends that join him varies day to day. When I saw the show, the friends that were onstage were OluMel, Gelatoni, and LinaBell.
Hong Kong Disneyland also composed 2 brand new songs for the show, entitled The Beauty of Friendship and You Belong. The Beauty of Friendship is featured in the Duffy segment of the show while You Belong is featured in the Princesses part of the show. The Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary theme song can also be heard at the beginning and end of the show.

I truly enjoyed the show and found it to be well-executed. The plot is a little bit over-simplistic, but at least it had a plot in the first place, and one that made sense and was easy to follow. Another positive is that everything about the show felt intentional and the show felt like it had a sure sense of direction. They weren’t shoehorning in characters for the sake of bloating the cast. Each choice felt like it was thought through, which is good.
The props, set design, and costumes were all top-notch. I specifically liked the inflatable balloons and banners that seemed to appear out of nowhere during the show. The use of screens as a backdrop was also very well done and really added life and energy to the show.

Speaking of adding energy, the performers of this show were all amazing. The singers in particular were very talented and energetic, but so were the dancers and character performers. You can tell that this show was a labor of love from everyone involved.
The music of this show was also amazing. You Belong especially is a catchy song with a great message. The Beauty of Friendship can be a little cringe at times, but it’s also an incredibly catchy song with a good message as well.
Overall, this show surpassed my expectations. I don’t know if it’s better than Follow Your Dreams, but it’s at least just as entertaining as Follow Your Dreams. This is a great temporary addition to HKDL’s attraction lineup and I can’t wait to see it again.
Merchandise and Food

Hong Kong Disneyland released a plethora of merchandise and food options made specifically for the 20th Anniversary. The merchandise in particular is varied, cute, and should satisfy every Disney fan. They have shirts, sweaters, spirit jerseys, postcards, trading cards, food tins, pins, blind boxes, stationary, figurines, keychains, plushies, bags, and a whole lot more.

I myself bought a lot of the merch, mostly pins and the exclusive anniversary specific shirts. Unfortunately, the limited edition anniversary pins debuted two days after my trip so I wasn’t able to get those. But I’m still happy with my merch haul and think that this is the best variety of merchandise HKDL has ever had for an anniversary and this collection is second only to World of Frozen’s opening merch as the best HKDL collection of merch ever.
The food at the parks was good as well. New popcorn flavors can now be found in the park, as well as exclusive sweet treats and other goodies all around the park and resort. While I didn’t get to try everything, all of what I tried was good.

Hong Kong Disneyland really knocked their merchandise and food offerings out of the park for this anniversary. While I would say that the food doesn’t match the varied options found in Disneyland for their 70th Anniversary, the Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary merch is leaps and bounds ahead of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary merch.
Music

There are 7 original songs that were made for the anniversary: the anniversary theme (The Most Magical Party of All), two songs for Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle (You Belong and The Beauty of Friendship), and four songs for the parade (Friends Forever, What Friends Do, I Got You, and Count On You).
All of them are insanely catchy and have meaningful lyrics. The parade songs in particular are all excellent. You Belong is also a great song for the castle stage show. As mentioned, while I thought some of the lyrics of The Beauty of Friendship were a little cringe, I still think it’s a great song.

I think I still prefer the song Celebrate Happy from the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland to the The Most Magical Party of All theme song, but the latter has the advantage of being a longer song, as the Disneyland one is shorter than 2 minutes.
All in all, this is a great collection of tracks, all of which are earworms and will inevitably get stuck in your head. HKDL has a history of crafting incredible songs for their shows and attractions, and the anniversary songs just continue that storied tradition.
Decor

The decor for the anniversary is stunning. The different 20th Anniversary installations they added to the different lands were beautiful and perfect for photo ops. I particularly liked the Mystic Point display, as well as the Tomorrowland installation with Baby Groot. The decorations at the hub and town square were also gorgeous, and I have to give a shout out to whoever decided to decorate the welcome arch and the HK airport. All in all, the decor is very festive and really helps put the entire park in a celebratory mood.

My Thoughts on Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary
Ok, if you’ve read my review of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary (which you can find here), you’ll know that I called that anniversary celebration the best anniversary I had ever experienced. Well, I think I need to go back and edit that review, because the Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary is now the best anniversary I’ve ever experienced.

Everything from the decor to the music to the merch to the food was all pitch perfect. The park really did feel like one big party because every element came together so cohesively and seamlessly. I don’t think there’s been an anniversary that has been so consistent in theme since Disneyland Paris’ 30th.
The main three offerings for the anniversary were all good and worth going to Hong Kong for. Friendtastic is a stunning parade with energetic performers, beautiful floats and costumes, and catchy music. Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle is also incredibly fun and is just bursting with heart and optimism. Even Momentous: Party in the Night Sky, which I thought was the weakest part of the anniversary, was worth seeing even just for the spectacle of it all. These three are the stars of the anniversary and they shine incredibly bright.

Another edge this anniversary has over Disneyland’s 70th is that every entertainment offering is NEW. Most of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary offerings were taken from previous events and celebrations, such as Paint the Night, Better Together, and Wondrous Journeys. Only World of Color Happiness was technically new.
Meanwhile, Friendtastic, Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle, and Momentous: Party in the Night Sky are all new offerings created specifically for the anniversary. At a time when some parks are slowly cutting their entertainment budgets, it’s nice to see Hong Kong Disneyland investing in new entertainment offerings.

That being said, the anniversary isn’t perfect. No attraction opened as part of the anniversary the way Fairy Tale Forest opened for the park’s 10th Anniversary and Walt Disney – A Magical Life opened for Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary. In addition, the park could have used a new nighttime parade as well, or at least a refreshed and expanded Paint the Night.
What makes this anniversary special, however, and why I think it beats out Disneyland’s 70th and Walt Disney World’s 50th is because of its cohesion in theme and message. HKDL’s 20th Anniversary theme revolves around friendship and family and celebrating milestones with the ones you love. It also goes further to say that these relationships you make are the foundation of your life, and at the end of the day those relationships are worth celebrating.

This is seen in the three main entertainment offerings, with Friendtastic being the most explicit example of this. Momentous: Party in the Night Sky also has the theme of celebrating with friends and family, as does Disney Friends Live: Party at the Castle. How HKDL is able to have a connective thread via a common theme linking these attractions together makes each entertainment offering that much more meaningful.

Because at the end of the day, that’s what celebrations are all about. They’re not meant to be shared alone. They’re meant to be shared with those you love, as it is only in sharing our lives with those we love that our own lives can have meaning. HKDL’s Most Magical Party of All beautifully and simply reminds us of this, and it makes the anniversary feel that much more special.
As mentioned in my review of Friendtastic, most guests probably won’t think of this theme off the top of their heads, but it will for sure leave a lasting impression. This anniversary also makes me excited for the future of Hong Kong Disneyland, and I can’t wait to see just how this park will grow and evolve over the next few years.

Hong Kong Disneyland 20th Anniversary Conclusion
In summary, this is the best HKDL anniversary ever, and the second best Disney anniversary of the past 5 years behind only Disneyland Paris’ 30th. If you’re on the fence about planning a visit, I highly recommend making a trip to the park to check it out. It’s a beautiful celebration of friends and family that I hope can reach as many people as possible. It executes its vision almost perfectly, and every imagineer and cast member behind this anniversary should be commended for their impeccable work.
