Beginning June 30, 2023, a brand new musical stage show will debut at the Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure! Inspired by the fictional musical showcased in the first episode of the Disney+ series “Hawkeye”, Rogers: the Musical is a one-act show that chronicles the life and journey of Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. The Disney Parks Blog has released some information regarding the show, which you can find here, and I’ve got it all covered for you below.
About the Show
The 30-minute, one-act show will be shown at the Hyperion Theater in Hollywoodland. Since the park reopened from the pandemic the theater has sat empty, leaving fans wondering what Disney would eventually premiere at the theater. And finally, after two years, a new show has arrived! Rogers: the Musical’s book is written by Hunter Bell and will include five original songs with music by Christopher Lennertz and lyrics by Jordan Peterson, Christopher Lennertz and Alex Karukas. In addition, fan favorite “Save the City” from the series “Hawkeye” as well as “Star Spangled Man” from “Captain America: The First Avenger” will be included in the show as well.
Limited Time Offering
Rogers: the Musical is, as of right now, only scheduled to run until August 31st, 2023. We don’t know yet if it’ll continue past this date, which is why if you really want to see the show, I would suggest making your way down to DCA this summer. There will be several showtimes a day and the show will only run from Tuesday to Saturday every week. Again, something to note if you plan on making a trip just for the show.
Virtual Queue
A virtual queue system will be in place for the show. Similar to the virtual queue system for World of Color: One, guests will not be able to pick which show they will see. Instead, they will be automatically given a showtime once they enter the virtual queue. Now unlike the World of Color virtual queue, there will be two distribution times for Rogers: the Musical: once at 10:30am PT and another at 2pm PT. The 10:30am time will be for the first two shows of the day, with the 2pm time being for the rest of the shows that day.
Take note that you do not need a virtual queue to see the show as the theater will be open to walk-ins on a first come, first serve basis if seats left over from the virtual queue are available. If you do get a virtual queue, you will be called to stand in the physical queue anywhere from 30-45 minutes before showtime.
Premium Viewing Experience
A premium viewing experience will be available for guests who want to upgrade their showing. This package can be bought from the Studio Catering Co. Truck in Hollywoodland in limited quantities per showtime. The package costs $29 and will include a souvenir popcorn bucket with red, white, and blue kettle corn and a beverage of your choice, access to a lounge before the show (near Stage 12), a souvenir lanyard, access to a unique photo opportunity, and priority choice of seating for the show among select seats. Package holders can check in as early as 90 minutes prior to showtime and will be let into the Hyperion theater approximately 30 minutes before showtime.
