Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels Cover

So you’re planning a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) and deciding which hotel to stay at. First off, lucky you! Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s hotels are the perfect way to extend your Disney experience, especially if you’re visiting the park for more than 1 day. But with three different hotels to choose from, you’re probably wondering which of the Hong Kong Disneyland hotels is right for you? Well hopefully you get the answers that you need from this post as I will be breaking down each hotel and its offerings, amenities, and more!

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels me

Hong Kong Disneyland has some of the nicest Disney hotels in the world. They’re all incredibly well-themed, have gorgeous rooms and interiors, and come with a lot of activities. I’ve had the great privilege of being able to stay in all 3 hotels, so this comparison comes from my own experiences of the hotels. By the end of this post, you’ll know exactly which hotel is right for you and your needs.

I will be breaking down each hotel, one criterion at a time. I’ll be going into each hotel’s design and theming, their dining and shopping options, their rooms and amenities, their activities for hotel guests, their grounds, and their access to the parks. It’ll be comprehensive so you can be fully informed when you make your decision.

Background of the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels hollywood entrance

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort opened with two hotels: the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. They were the only two onsite hotels for 12 years until the Disney Explorer’s Lodge opened on the lot beside Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. Each hotel has its own theme, design, amenities, and activities that differ from the other hotels.

I personally love every single hotel on property, and Disney has done an incredible job making each a magical experience to stay in. As the years have gone by, Disney has morphed and changed the hotels, sometimes for the better, sometimes not. I personally love the addition of many activities such as drawing classes and scavenger hunts around the hotels, but on the flip side I don’t like that two of the hotels lack quick service dining options.

There are pros and cons to each Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hotel, but I believe that they are all worth staying in. They’re also relatively inexpensive if you stay multiple nights, with discounts sometimes reaching up to 30% off if you stay a minimum of 2 nights. I believe the pros vastly outweigh the cons, and picking which hotel to stay at will mostly come down to price, amenities, theming, and dining options.

Before we go into which hotel you should stay at, I think it’s important to discuss what perks you get for staying at the Hong Kong Disneyland hotels!

Klook.com

Perks of Staying at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels dragon

If I’m speaking honestly, there aren’t that many perks to staying at the Hong Kong Disneyland hotels compared to staying at the hotels in the other Disney resorts around the world. I don’t know why this is, as I think Hong Kong Disneyland should make staying at the hotels more appealing to tourists by adding more benefits so tourists are emboldened to stay at the hotels longer. But that being said, they do have some benefits that, in my opinion, make a hotel stay worth it.

Guaranteed Admission

If you stay at a Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hotel, you are guaranteed admission to the park on each day of your stay, even when reservations or tickets run out. This I think is the biggest perk of staying on-property, especially if you’re visiting during peak times when crowds are at their largest and reservations may run out.

Because you’re a guest, cast members will allow you to make reservations for all days of your stay, including arrival and departure day. Do note that this perk applies only to guests staying at the hotel. If you’re traveling with someone who decided to stay outside Disney property, they are not eligible for the same perk even if they do visit the park with you.

Designated Entrance

Another perk you get for staying at the Hong Kong Disneyland hotels is that you get a designated entrance to the park. This is especially helpful in the mornings when lines to enter the park can get long for people who aren’t hotel guests. You also get a designated bag check area with the designated entrance.

The line in the morning also moves quickly because several turnstiles are earmarked for hotel guests. This means you’ll get in the park faster than other guests, allowing you a few minutes headstart to your day. Note that this entrance is off to the right hand side and you will need to show your keycard sleeve (again, the sleeve not the keycard itself) to be able to access it.

Proximity to Parks

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels entrance

This is one of the underrated benefits to booking a Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hotel. If you feel tired or hot in the middle of the day, staying at the hotels allows you to take a midday break. There aren’t many hotels near Hong Kong Disneyland, so these are probably the only hotels you can stay at where you can do this. I would take advantage of this as the hotels have a lot of activities and amenities you can enjoy throughout the day.

Shuttle Service to Park

As part of your Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hotel stay, there will be shuttle buses that will take you from the hotel to the park and back. You will usually get picked up by the hotel and will be dropped off at the Public Transport Interchange. From here you can walk to the park. This service is complimentary and, if you wanted to, you could even walk to the park from the hotels by using the waterfront path located behind the hotels that leads to the other end of Park Promenade.

Coupons in Room

Something introduced after the pandemic are coupons that come with every room. They usually give you discounts in the hotel gift shop, and the coupons are usually replenished every day. If you don’t have a Magic Access, this is a great way to get discounted souvenirs. I believe they also come with discounts to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique found in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

When and How to Book Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels to Maximize Savings

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels garden

I recommend booking Hong Kong Disneyland Resort hotels from the Hong Kong Disneyland website or from Klook. You get access to exclusive discount offers and packages when you book through the Hong Kong Disneyland website or on Klook.

Hong Kong Disneyland usually has a room offer going on at all times. Usually these discounts are mainly for stays of 2 nights or longer and are usually set at 30% with a 15% discount usually applying for 1 night stays. However, sometimes they offer discounts even larger than these.

For example, for the past few years they have offered a Black Friday sale where you can buy 2-night stays or longer for 40% off. This offer is usually valid for stays till the following year, so if you know you’re going to be visiting the park in the following year, I would wait for this offer to be offered by HKDL.

Now we’re going to start the breakdown of each hotel. Let’s start with the flagship hotel of the resort: the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

Klook.com

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is a 5-Star, 400 room hotel located steps away from the park. It’s the fanciest hotel in the resort, and because of that it is also the most expensive. There are a lot of spaces and experiences in this hotel that you can only find here. I’ll be going into each element of the hotel below.

Design and Theming

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is themed similarly to the Grand Floridian hotel at Walt Disney World. It actually looks like it could be a carbon copy of that hotel. Its design is very Victorian, with red roofs accenting the hotel’s white walls and white exterior. Everything about the hotel screams fancy. From the marbled floors to the grand chandelier in the lobby to the various murals found around the hotel.

The lobby encapsulates this the most. It stands 6 stories tall and usually has a live band playing music on the upper floors every day. Elegance drips from every crevice of this hotel, and its opulence is on full display in every aspect of the hotel.

Klook.com

Standard Rooms

Rooms go from standard rooms to suites. Room prices will be determined by the size of the room, the view of the room, as well as the amenities and features included in the room, as well as if they are Kingdom Club rooms or not. Standard rooms come with either two queen beds or a king sized bed. Many standard rooms come with a balcony as well, although you will be paying more for a room with this feature.

Standard rooms have your usual features such as a TV, safe, slippers, a desk and chair, and plugs and sockets, among other things. Unfortunately, due to new government regulations, amenity kits are no longer given for free in each room. If you want one you must purchase it at the lobby when checking in. Each room also comes with a water dispenser, so bring reusable water bottles if you can. Standard rooms are located from the first floor to the sixth floor.

Incorporating the theme of the hotel, each room is themed in the same Victorian style. This is probably the hotel that has the least “Disney” in its rooms, and it also has the oldest rooms on property since Disney’s Hollywood Hotel just recently refurbished its rooms.

Klook.com

Kingdom Club

Kingdom Club is the concierge level class of rooms found at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. This hotel is the only hotel with concierge level rooms, and you can choose accommodation types from rooms to suites. By staying in the Kingdom Club rooms, you get a variety of perks, benefits, and experiences exclusive to guests staying at this club level.

You get complimentary Kingdom Club food, with breakfast being available from 7:30am to 11am featuring “assorted fresh pastries, cereal, fruit, hot breakfast selections and beverages.” From 11am to 5pm you can savor “an assortment of homemade cookies, seasonal fresh whole fruits and beverages.” From 5pm to 7pm you can partake in “a selection of scrumptious appetizers with your choice of complimentary beer and wine” and then again from 8pm to 10pm you can have “an assortment of homemade cookies, seasonal fresh whole fruits and beverages.”

Cast members in the Kingdom Club level can also help you with the following services:

  • Include Breakfast, Light Evening Supper, Snacks and Beverages
  • Check-In and Check-Out Services
  • Park Tickets Purchase
  • Complimentary First-Round Mini-Bar
  • Complimentary Luggage Storage at Park
  • Complimentary Parking at Hotel
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi Service
  • Merchandise Delivery Service
  • Evening Turndown Service
  • Florist (Additional Fee)
  • Laundry and Dry Cleaning (Additional Fee)
  • Disneyland Tour Services (Additional Fee)

Be aware that this list is not exhaustive and some services can be added based on the guest’s needs.

Along with all of that, children staying at the Kingdom Club level can partake in arts and crafts sessions that are exclusive to Kingdom Club guests, meet Disney characters in their pajamas before bedtime, and partake in a bedtime story session complete with milk and cookies.

Rooms at the Kingdom Club level include Kingdom Club Rooms, The Kingdom Club Suite, The Kingdom Club Cinderella Suite, The Kingdom Club Frozen Suite, the Roy O. Disney Suite, and the Walt Disney Suite. The Walt Disney Suite is the most expensive room in the entire resort. The latter two suites come with a bathtub with jacuzzi, as well as a luxury shower area with steam and a multi-jet shower.

Activities and Hotel Amenities

There are many activities that you can participate in at this hotel. Perhaps the most famous one is the Tai Chi lesson with a Disney friend that takes place every morning at the lobby of the hotel. Mickey or Goofy will lead a Tai Chi lesson, and following the lesson you’ll be able to meet them. It’s a fun way to start the day and allows you to meet a character outside the parks in a special outfit.

In addition to the exclusive storytime session that Kingdom Club guests get to experience, regular hotel guests also have their own storytime session. The storytime sessions take place at the Storybook Playroom every night and are conducted in three languages: English, Cantonese, and Putonghua. See the front desk for specific session times.

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel also has a hidden Mickey scavenger hunt that you can participate in by picking up a map from the front desk. You get a special commemorative gift once you complete the scavenger hunt. The hotel also has drawing classes that you can join every day where you learn how to draw a character from a Disney artist.

The storybook playroom is also available for children to play in every day. Those under 12 years old must be accompanied by a guardian at all times when visiting the playroom. You must take off your shoes before entering the room and must wear socks at all times.

There is a gym, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool located on the first floor beside the indoor pool. The gym has both cardio and strength training equipment, while the sauna, steam room, and whirlpool are the perfect place to relax and unwind after a workout. Note that only those 14 and up can use the gym and only those 11 and up can use the sauna.

The hotel has an ATM, power bank rentals, babysitting services, business center services, currency exchange, dry cleaning and laundry, mail service and package shipping, meeting and banquet facilities, and services for guests with special needs. Parking is also available at the hotel, and the hotel also has a service called Package Express where merchandise purchased at the park may be delivered to your hotel.

I’ll be covering the activities that you can do in the grounds of the hotel in a later section.

Klook.com

Pools

The hotel has two pools, an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. The indoor pool is a 107 square meter pool and was built for guests who want to exercise and get a few laps in during their stay at the hotel. The indoor pool is heated and is themed after a turn of the 20th century spa-themed watering hole.

The main pool is a 78,000 gallon heated pool located outdoors. It includes a 40 meter long waterfall-themed waterslide, as well as deck chairs for you to sit in and relax while you’re using the pool. The pool is a zero-depth entry pool, and lockers and towels are available for you to rent free of charge. The pool also has a whirlpool nearby.

Klook.com

Dining

The hotel has three main restaurants: Crystal Lotus, Enchanted Garden, and Walt’s Cafe. Crystal Lotus is a Chinese restaurant found on the same floor as the lobby. The restaurant has a menu that spans the four culinary regions of China: Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, and Guangdong.

The restaurant has a very different aesthetic from the rest of the hotel, with the interior looking like upscale Chinese restaurants you can find in Hong Kong. The restaurant is known for their Disney Dim Sum, which features dim sum that look like Disney characters. Do note that if you want to book that experience, it must be booked at least a day before you plan on dining.

Enchanted Garden is the buffet restaurant of the hotel that features character dining. Character dining is when characters will approach your table during your meal or when a character meet and greet is available after or before a meal. Enchanted Garden is the former, with characters approaching your table during your meal.

Characters are available at Enchanted Garden for Breakfast and Dinner. The restaurant is Victorian in theme and gives off the vibe of being in an English Victorian garden. The buffet features international options as well as traditional Asian-inspired dishes.

Walt’s Cafe is a semi-buffet restaurant during lunch and a table service restaurant during dinner that features Walt’s favorite dishes and is adorned with over 60 photos of Walt. A semi-buffet is a type of restaurant where you order your main course from a menu while the appetizers and desserts are all served buffet style.

At dinner, a selection of Irish dishes are available, while for breakfast and lunch the restaurant serves Walt’s signature dishes. This restaurant is also decorated with a Victorian flair to match the aesthetic of the hotel.

The hotel also has a poolside bar called the Sea Breeze Bar that serves cocktails, as well as a dining area in the lobby of the hotel called the Grand Salon. The Grand Salon has an afternoon tea set that you can enjoy as you overlook the grounds of the hotel. In-room dining is also available at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel.

Advanced dining reservations are recommended for the three main restaurants at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, although walk-ins are always welcome. If you’re staying at the hotel during peak season like Chinese New Year or Christmas, then reservations are highly recommended. You can book dining reservations at the Hong Kong Disneyland website up to 42 days before you intend to visit the restaurant.

Klook.com

Shopping

There is one shop in the hotel which is located to the right of the entrance of the hotel. Kingdom Gifts sells merchandise such as apparel, toys, collectibles, and even some sundries. As this is the only shop in the hotel, this is the only place where you can use the coupons that the hotel provides in your room. I would recommend scouring the store before entering the park so you know what items they have available that you can use your coupons for.

Klook.com

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is where young princes and princesses can go to have a royal makeover. The whole experience will involve your children being assigned a fairy godmother in-training who will then assist in giving your child the makeover.

Depending on the package you pick, your experience could come with an exclusive Disney princess costume for your child to wear, as well as accessories and makeup that their fairy godmother-in-training will put on them. Some packages then come with an exclusive photo session as well.

This is a popular experience so its recommended to book it well in advance. You can make a reservation up to 180 days in advance. You may also inquire at Kingdom Gifts if they have any availability. This is only available for children aged 3 to 11 and they must have an adult supervise them throughout the experience. The whole session will take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Hotel Grounds

The hotel grounds are some of the most beautiful in the Disney hotel pantheon, with the Mickey Hedge Maze making up a significant portion of the back area of the hotel. This maze has become an icon of the hotel, and you’ll routinely find guests wandering its pathways trying to figure out where the exit is. The hedges aren’t that high, so even young guests can find their way around easily.

There are various activities also available in the grounds of the hotel. There is a self-served pedal go-kart experience that you can find at the multi-court. These karts were intended for smaller guests so those too big to use them can still watch the karts race around the track. There is also a 12-hole mini-golf course called the Queen’s Grand Mini Golf and it is hosted by the Queen of Hearts. This is located at the sea view terrace.

There is a full-size tennis court and a half-sized multi court available for ball games at the hotel’s north side as well. You may rent equipment for free from the gym. There is also a playground available on property for kids to use.

The hotel also hosts a paid Starlight Picnic, with two packages available. The Starlight Picnic is a “picnic under the stars” where you get a bunch of goodies to enjoy as you watch a Disney movie. There are premium and lite packages for this experience, with the premium package even coming with Momentous reserved viewing! You can find more info about it here.

Klook.com

Access to Park

There are two ways to access the park: via Park Promenade and via Shuttle Bus. You can walk 15-20 minutes through Park Promenade to get to the entrance of the park. Park Promenade can be found right beside the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel entrance. Shuttle Buses, on the other hand, will take you to the Public Transport Interchange on the other end of Park Promenade. They leave every 5-10 minutes from the hotel.

Price

As mentioned, this hotel is the most expensive of the three hotels. Nightly room prices range from HK$2,000 for Standard Rooms to HK$25,000 for the Walt Disney Suite. Do note, however, that this price includes most activities at the hotel and all the amenities as well. This is the flagship hotel of the resort, and is also the most luxurious of the three hotels, so high prices are expected not just for rooms but for dining as well.

Klook.com

Who This Hotel is For

This hotel is for the guest that wants the highest amount of luxury in their stay. Everything in this hotel drips with elegance, and every guest is treated like royalty. That’s not to say that the other two hotels don’t treat you this way, but it’s especially evident at this hotel. It has the most activities of any hotel, as well as the most amenities. It also has the most restaurants and premium experiences.

Definitely stay here if you have the means to, but I personally prefer staying at the other two hotels. There’s a lot of overlap in services between these hotels, so by staying here you’re mostly paying for the theming and to have close walking proximity to the park, as well as to have the best hotel restaurants and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique close by.

Stay here as well if you’re interested in staying at the Kingdom Club level. This is the only hotel on Hong Kong Disneyland property that has a club-level option, so if that is important to you then definitely consider a stay here.

Disney Explorer’s Lodge

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels lodge

Read my review of Disney Explorer’s Lodge.

The newest of the Hong Kong Disneyland hotels, Disney Explorer’s Lodge is a four-star, 750 room hotel located between the other two Hong Kong Disneyland hotels. It is the mid-tier hotel, being priced in between the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel and the Hollywood Hotel. It’s my personal favorite hotel on property, so let’s take a closer look at this gorgeous hotel.

Design and Theming

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels lobby explorers

This hotel’s design feels like if you combined the Fort Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World. It has a very tribal, exotic feel to it, which is perfectly expressed by its lobby.

The lobby is gorgeous, with wooden panels and bamboo fixtures dominating the space. There’s even a bridge on the top floor of the lobby, as well as travel suitcases for Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy to the left of the lobby. It’s not as fancy as the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel lobby, but to me it is a lot better themed and more visually striking.

Every detail of the hotel was designed with this exploration aesthetic in mind. From the decoration adorning the back of the check-in counters to the various rockwork found outside by the pool (complete with cascading waterfalls) and the hotel’s many manicured gardens, this hotel feels like an extension of Adventureland in many ways. The theming alone is enough for me to consider this hotel my favorite, but there’s so many other spaces and features of this hotel that also catapult it to number 1 on my HKDL hotels list.

Klook.com

Rooms and Suites

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels beds explorers

Rooms at this hotel range from Standard Rooms to Suites. Unlike the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel, the Explorer’s Lodge does not have Club Level rooms. The price of the room will depend on the view of the room as well as its features, with the most standard rooms being located on the first floor. For reference, the lobby is located on the 3rd floor. Some standard rooms come with alcoves and balconies, with rooms with balconies commanding higher prices.

You can find the usual amenities in the room such as a tv, safe, hair dryer, slippers, towels, and soap. Unfortunately, like at the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel, amenity kits are no longer given for free due to a new Hong Kong environmental law. Each room also comes with a water dispenser, so bring a reusable water bottle if you can. Deluxe and Sea View rooms are located on the upper floors of the hotel.

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels sink

The theming of the rooms is subtle yet cohesive and extends the adventure and exploration themes of the hotel. My favorite details are the tribal masks of Mickey and Minnie on the headboards, as well as the bongo drum seat placed by the table.

There is one suite in the hotel known as the Adventurer’s Suite. It has a king-sized bed as well as a trundle bed that can be pulled out. It’s not as elaborate as the suites in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, but the theming is top notch and really compliments the theming of the hotel as a whole.

Klook.com

Activities and Hotel Amenities

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels activities

There are a bunch of activities that you can participate in at the hotel. There are balloon making and food decorating classes available for you to join. There’s also a playroom called Nemo’s Recreation Reef. Kids can do activities here, play with other kids, and at night they hold a special storytelling session.

Other activities are offered as well, and for the updated schedule and lineup you should contact the front desk. There’s a couple of things to see and do outside on the grounds of the hotel as well, but I will cover them in a succeeding section.

The hotel has an ATM, power bank rentals, babysitting services, currency exchange, dry cleaning and laundry, mail service and package shipping, and services for guests with special needs. Parking is also available at the hotel, and the hotel also has a service called Package Express where merchandise purchased at the park can be delivered to your hotel.

Klook.com

Pools

There is one pool in the hotel called the Rain Drop Pool. It’s located at the back of the hotel and can be accessed via stairs from the lobby. There are towels and chairs for you to use while you enjoy the pool. Take note that, unlike the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel pools, this pool does not have a slide.

Dining

There are two full service restaurants at the hotel as well as one quick service restaurant. This is the only hotel with a quick service restaurant since Disney’s Hollywood Hotel got rid of theirs. The two full service restaurants are called Dragon Wind and World of Color, while the quick service restaurant is called Chart Room Cafe. There’s also a lounge by the lobby called Dreamer’s Lookout where they serve Whisky cocktails.

Dragon Wind is where the buffet breakfast is held. It’s a character breakfast but of the kind where you line up to meet 1 character during your meal. The characters do not go to your table unlike in Enchanted Garden at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. Take note that characters are only available for breakfast. For dinner, the restaurant becomes a regular Chinese restaurant.

World of Color is the restaurant where you can enjoy an afternoon tea set, with this one being themed to Duffy and Friends. Other than the afternoon tea set, you can enjoy lunch and dinner at the restaurant with a menu inspired by cuisines from around the world. You’ll find soups, salads, pastas, meats, and some select Asian dishes.

Chart Room Cafe is a quick service dining location where you can order meals to go. They offer a breakfast menu that includes American, Chinese, and Hong Kong-style options. They also have an all-day menu that includes pizzas, teriyaki beef, and baked mac and cheese, among other dishes. This restaurant is open till 11pm, so it’s the perfect place to grab a bite to eat after a day at the park.

Advanced dining reservations are recommended for Dragon Wind’s breakfast, but you can easily walk up and get a table for both Dragon Wind and World of Color, unless you’re dining during busy periods like Chinese New Year or Christmas. This hotel also has in-room dining available.

Klook.com

Shopping

There is one shop at the hotel called The Trading Post. It’s located to the left immediately upon entering the hotel. It sells park merchandise such as apparel, collectibles, plushies, pins, blind boxes, and more! This is the only place in the hotel where you can use the coupons that you can find in your room. As with the last hotel, I recommend checking out the merchandise at the hotel shop before going to the park so you can use the discounts available to you here.

Hotel Grounds

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels grounds

The hotel probably has the best grounds of any of the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels. It has four gardens themed to the regions of Asia, Oceania, South America, and Africa, with a Disney character representing each. The grounds are gorgeous, filled with amazing rock work, lush landscaping, and purposeful design elements like fire pits, fountains, and waterfalls.

Aside from the pool, you can also find go-karts here like at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. The go-karts are located at the Kevin Garden, also known as the South American garden. If you exit the lobby and walk down to the pool, it’ll be to your left. Other than that, there’s not a ton else to do. The grounds are worth walking through once, however, so make sure to do that. The pathway that connects to the backs of the other hotels can be accessed from the grounds.

Klook.com

Access to Park

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels go kart

You could theoretically walk from the back of the hotel past the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and to Park Promenade, and from there walk to the park, but the walk from Explorer’s Lodge to the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will take about 10-15 minutes, and then will take another 15 minutes to get to the park. Because of this, I recommend taking the free shuttle bus instead. Shuttles depart every 5-10 minutes. That shuttle bus goes directly from the hotel to the Public Transport Interchange. From there it’s a quick 5-minute walk to the park.

Do note that, if you take the shuttle way past park closing, your shuttle will stop at each of the Hong Kong Disneyland hotels. It will stop at the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel first before continuing on to Disney Explorer’s Lodge before finally stopping at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel.

Klook.com

Price

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels fountain

This hotel is cheaper than the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel but more expensive than Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. Prices range from HK$1,700 per night for a Standard Room to over HK$11,000 for the Adventurers Suite. However, I would say that the price of food at this hotel is more expensive than its nightly room price point. Food at the hotels is expensive in general, so while it might not be as expensive as Crystal Lotus, don’t expect cheap prices either.

Who This Hotel is For

I would say this hotel is for guests who want the ultimate themed experience when visiting Hong Kong Disneyland. It’s the most impeccably themed resort, so if you want to go for the most immersive experience, then definitely pick this hotel.

In addition, this hotel is for families and groups who want to splurge a little bit and get a bit more out of their Hong Kong Disneyland hotel stay. They may not want to pay Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel prices, but they still do want some of the luxuries of expensive hotels like room service, sit down restaurants, and lounges and bars. Also, if eating breakfast before you enter the park is ideal for you, then pick this hotel as it’s the only one with a quick service breakfast option.

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels exterior

Read my review of Disney’s Hollywood Hotel.

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is a four-star, 600 room hotel located right beside the Explorer’s Lodge. It is the Disney hotel I’ve stayed at the most, with over 10 stays here since I started visiting Hong Kong Disneyland in October 2006. It’s the lowest tiered hotel, meaning its the cheapest to stay at of the three Hong Kong Disneyland hotels. Let’s dive into this unique hotel.

Design and Theming

This hotel is similar in look and feel to the Ambassador Hotel in Tokyo Disney Resort. The predominant architectural style found in this hotel is Art Deco. It can be found everywhere from the exterior of the hotel to the lobby to the grounds. The lobby is the simplest of the three lobbies and is more cozy than grand. Plush chairs and television sets dot the lobby to give it a homey feel.

The hotel also has a moviemaking and film theme. This can be seen in the decor of the hotel, which includes concept art from various Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies, as well as in the decor of the restaurants and the grounds. The grounds feature a film strip walkway and a copy of the Hollywood sign at the back of the hotel. This hotel’s focus on moviemaking came with the renovations made to the hotel post-pandemic.

Rooms and Suites

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels marvel rooms

Rooms at this hotel range from Standard Rooms to Sea View Rooms. Unlike the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel, Hollywood Hotel does not have Club Level rooms. This is also the only hotel on property that does not have suites. The price of the room will depend on the view of the room but the rooms are basically identical to each other. There are no rooms with balconies.

The rooms come in two themes: Mickey and Friends and Marvel. I had the pleasure of staying at a Marvel-themed room and to me it’s the best themed room in the entire resort. The headboard is spectacular, the little marvel and filmmaking touches such as the Avengers tower by the luggage rack are subtle yet impactful, and the overall design adds to the fun and whimsy of the hotel. It doesn’t come off as cheap or overdone but is instead very tasteful.

You can find the usual amenities in the room such as a tv, safe, hair dryer, slippers, towels, and soap. Each room also comes with a water dispenser, so bring a reusable water bottle if you can. Unfortunately, like at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney Explorer’s Lodge, amenity kits are no longer given for free due to a new Hong Kong environmental law. You can buy them from the lobby upon check-in, however, if you really want one.

Activities and Hotel Amenities

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels marvel

There is an abundance of activities you can take part in while staying at the hotel. The first is a SHIELD Agent Training Campus activity. This activity is basically a game that will have you doing a bunch of different activities to complete a mission. Upon completing the mission, you’ll receive a commemorative Marvel-themed button which you can also decorate.

There is also a Disney Artistry Tour available at the hotel. In the tour, you’ll scan QR codes and discover animated art pieces themed after your favorite Disney movies and characters. This tour will take you throughout the refreshed Disney’s Hollywood Hotel. The hotel also offer Disney Movie Premieres where guests can watch movies outside on the lawn of the hotel. The area is themed to a classic movie drive-in, and fan-favorite Disney movies will be shown nightly.

The hotel also has an arcade. It’s a bit out of the way, but if you walk past Ink and Plate and turn left before you reach the elevators, you should see it to your right. There are a couple of games inside that you can play, including some claw machines. Always inquire at the front desk to know what activities are available for the days of your stay.

Pools

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels piano pool

There is one pool located in the hotel called the Piano pool. It’s called that because it is shaped like a piano, complete with underwater keys. Lockers and lounge chairs are available for guests to use free of charge. The pool is a zero-entry pool and includes a 28-meter long waterslide. The slide is themed to the mountains found in old cowboy movies, and you must be at least 32 inches tall to use the slide. You can also use pool towels here, free of charge.

Dining

There are two dining locations in the hotel: Ink and Plate and The Archivist. Ink and Plate is the buffet restaurant at the hotel. During breakfast, dinner, and lunch on weekends, you can enjoy a buffet with the option to meet a Disney character. You will only be able to meet 1 character and you will need to queue up for them. They will not go to your table.

The buffet is an international buffet with Asian and Western dishes. For lunch on weekends, you’ll be able to order from a set menu consisting of a soup, side, main dish, and drink. The menu is mostly Western dishes.

The Archivist is the Marvel-themed lounge located near the main lobby. The lounge is supposed to be themed to a film archive, with this particular archive housing Marvel-themed memorabilia. The lounge exudes class and sophistication, with Marvel themed touches sprinkled throughout the lounge, such as different marvel props being embedded into the tables and decorated around the space.

You can order a variety of Marvel themed drinks here, as well as some select food options, some of which are also Marvel themed. The food here is a bit pricey, but it is good and the drinks are also worth it. The Archivist also serves grab and go breakfast items in the morning, perfect for eating on the go while making your way to the park.

I highly recommend making reservations for Ink and Plate breakfast ahead of time, but unless you’re going during a peak time like Chinese New Year, you don’t really need to reserve a table ahead of time for Ink and Plate lunch and dinner or for The Archivist. Unlike the other two Hong Kong Disneyland hotels, this hotel does not offer in-room dining.

Shopping

There is one shop at the hotel called Celebrity Gifts. It’s located to the right immediately upon entering the hotel. The shop sells park merchandise such as figurines, apparel, plushes, and even a selection of sundries! This is the only place in the hotel where you can use the coupons that you can find in your room. As with the last two hotels, I always recommend checking out which merchandise is available at the hotel shop before going to the park so you can use the discounts available to you here.

Hotel Grounds

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels signThe hotel grounds are themed to Hollywood, with a few installations that were meant to transport you to the middle of Tinseltown. The long film strip walkway that connects the hotel with the gardens is fun to walk through. There is a playground available as well for kids to play in near the pool.

At the end of the film strip walkway is the famous Hollywood Hotel sign. If you follow the road to the back of the sign, you’ll see vintage cars that look like they’re straight out of old-time Los Angeles. It’s from this back part of the hotel that you’ll reach the waterside walkway that connects to the other hotels and to Park Promenade. The grounds of this hotel are lush and beautiful, and definitely worth exploring even for a little bit.

Access to Park

Just like at the Explorer’s Lodge, you could theoretically walk from the back of the hotel past the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and to Park Promenade, and from there walk to the park, but the walk from Hollywood Hotel to the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will take about 15-20 minutes, and from there it will take another 15 minutes to get to the park.

Because of the length of this walking path, I recommend taking the free shuttle bus instead. Shuttles will depart every 5-10 minutes. That shuttle bus goes directly from the hotel to the Public Transport Interchange, which is a quick 5-minute walk to the park.

Do note that, if you take the shuttle way past park closing, your shuttle will stop at each of the Hong Kong Disneyland hotels. It will stop at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel first before continuing on to Disney Explorer’s Lodge before finally stopping at the Disney’s Hollywood Hotel as its final destination.

Price

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotels entrance piano

This is the cheapest hotel of the bunch, but it is by no means cheap. It’s still more expensive than your average 4-star hotel, with rooms ranging in price from HK$1,600 to HK$1,850. Just like the Explorer’s Lodge, just because the hotel is cheaper, doesn’t mean the food and merch is cheaper as well. Prices for food are about the same, or slightly cheaper, than food at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and the Disney Explorer’s Lodge. This is especially true for the Archivist.

Who This Hotel is For

I would say this hotel is for those Hong Kong Disneyland guests who want to experience staying at a Hong Kong Disneyland hotel but want a more budget option. It is definitely the cheapest of the three hotels, but with that also comes the least amount of features and amenities. If you’re ok with sacrificing some amenities for a more affordable stay, then definitely consider staying in this hotel.

This would also be a great place to stay for first-timers. Unless you want to go all out and stay at the more expensive hotels, this hotel is great for first-timers because it allows you to experience staying at a Disney hotel for a lower cost in case you don’t want to commit to a higher price point.
