The Best Food at Shanghai Disneyland Guide

Shanghai Disneyland has many good food and dining options. From character meals to snack carts, there’s an abundance of delicious food at the park. Shanghai Disneyland also offers a lot of seasonal snacks and meals depending on when you’re visiting. But with a food landscape that’s as diverse and varied as the one in Shanghai Disneyland, how will you know which dishes and snacks are worth trying? That’s where this Best Food at Shanghai Disneyland Guide comes in!

I should place a caveat before this article that I have not tried every single food item at Shanghai Disneyland. The park is huge and has a lot of food options, so on my most recent visit I made a concerted effort to really pick and choose which items to try. I did this by comparing menus and finding out which items stood out as being unique to their respective locations. This resulted in a list of food items that I think perfectly encapsulate the gastronomic identity of the park.

From sweet treats to savory delicacies, this park has many interesting, unique, and most importantly, tasty food options. I personally ate and can vouch for every single item on this list. I know a lot of people think Shanghai Disneyland doesn’t have the best food among the Disney Parks, and while there were some items that left me disappointed, some of the best meals I’ve ever had at a Disney Park were at Shanghai Disneyland. My best advice is to experience it for yourself and be adventurous in trying the different food options at the park.

Gelato in a Quacky Crunchy Gelato Cone from Il Paperino, Mickey Avenue

Il Paperino serves many different kinds of gelato, but I went with Chocolate as it’s my favorite flavor. This restaurant is without a doubt the best place in the park to grab a frozen sweet treat. Il Paperino also offers a variety of different gelato snacks, such as a gelato sandwich as well as waffle combos where you get a Donald Duck waffle with a side of ice cream. If you’re looking for some good gelato, look no further than Il Paperino.

Pastries from CookieAnn Bakery Cafe, Mickey Avenue

Prices vary.

CookieAnn Bakery Cafe serves a bunch of different baked goods. I decided to highlight the entire restaurant rather than pick a specific pastry as I thought that every single item I bought from this restaurant was amazing. Some of the things I tried include the Tiramisu crepe and the Mickey-shaped Chocolate muffin. This was my go-to spot for breakfast every day of my visit, and you would be wise to visit this place as well for all your baked good needs.

Tomato Wagyu Beef Meatball with Spaghetti from Mickey and Pals Market Cafe, Mickey Avenue

Current Price: RMB$119 / US$17.73

Our first restaurant meal item on this list, the Tomato Wagyu Beef Meatball with Spaghetti is a red sauce lover’s dream. Featuring a hearty beef meatball that tastes fresh and falls apart in your mouth, along with soft pasta with a tasty red tomato sauce, this dish is the runaway winner from Mickey and Pals Market Cafe. You may have to eat the pasta with chopsticks like I did, but I thought the dish was well worth the price and was one of the better meals I had in the park.

Portobello and BBQ Pork Sandwich from Lotso Lunch Box, Toy Story Land

Current Price: RMB$85 / US$12.52

This is the only snack or food item from Toy Story Land in this article, and for good reason too. The Portobello and BBQ Pork Sandwich is a barbecue lover’s dream. Paired with earthy portobello mushrooms, this hefty snack might as well be a meal considering how big and filling it is. I am a huge barbecue fan so this snack was right up my alley, and it ended up being one of my favorite snacks in the park!

Bacon Cheese Wagyu Beef Burger from Stargazer Grill, Tomorrowland

Current Price: RMB$129 / US$19.22

The second restaurant meal in this article, this dish is perfect for any burger fan. I got this particular burger as it included bacon with it, but there are other burger dishes for you to try as well. There’s a cheese wagyu beef burger, an avocado vegetable and portobello burger, and a spicy chicken burger. The patty on the burger was very flavorful, and the bacon was juicy and tender. While not the best burger I’ve ever had, it’s still a solid option for a meal especially if you’re in the area.

Pineapple and BBQ Chicken Sandwich from Star Trail Snacks, Tomorrowland

Current Price: RMB$68 / US$10.01

I will start out by saying that this isn’t really a sandwich and I’m confused why it’s marketed as such. It’s more like a piece of chicken that is slathered with pineapple salad. I know, it sounds unusual, but it surprisingly works. The tanginess of the pineapple complements the smokiness of the barbecue chicken very well. It’s one of my favorite snacks in the park even though it isn’t actually a sandwich. Just be warned that it is a messy snack so be sure to use the gloves they give you as you eat the meal.

Winnie the Pooh Beef and Mushroom Ragout Sandwich from Pooh and Friends Treats, Fantasyland

Current Price: RMB$75 / US$11.04

While this snack may be cute to look at because it looks like Winnie the Pooh, it tastes as good as it looks. With a good blend of tender, tasty beef and savory mushroom ragout, this snack is a park highlight and one you must get during your trip. I first discovered this snack while watching Shanghai Disneyland vlogs and knew I had to get it from the presentation alone. And thankfully it’s the perfect blend of being cute and delicious.

Pork Roll with Stewed Meat Sauce and Rice from Tangled Tree Tavern, Fantasyland

Current Price: RMB$109 / US$16.24

This was, bar none, the best thing I had in Shanghai Disneyland. It might actually be one of the best quick service meals I’ve had in any Disney Park. The Pork Roll was crispy and flavorful, while the meat sauce added a kick that made the whole dish so delectable. I was surprised with how much I liked this dish that I contemplated going back to the restaurant to try it again. If you only have 1 quick service meal at Shanghai Disneyland, make it this.

Freshly Baked Egg Tarts from Troubadour Treats, Fantasyland

Current Price: RMB$50 / US$7.36

I have loved egg tarts ever since I had amazing ones in Portugal and Macau, so when I saw that Shanghai Disneyland sold their own version of these famous snacks, I knew I had to try them. These egg tarts just reinforced for me that they are a top tier baked good. They were served hot with a sweet egg custard at their center and a buttery, crispy exterior. With each serving you get three egg tarts, making them the perfect shareable snack you can eat on the go.

Black Truffle Beef with Egg and Sausage Rice from Duffy and Friends Celebration Hall, Adventure Isle

Current Price: RMB$119 / US$17.73

This was the second best dish I had in Shanghai Disneyland. The Black Truffle Beef was so flavorful, and the rice was also very savory. I also like that it was shaped like Duffy, so this gets some points for presentation. Just like with Tangled Tree Tavern, I enjoyed the meal so much that I considered returning one more time on my trip, but with the amount of good food options there are in Shanghai Disneyland, I just didn’t have the time.

Chocolate Rice Crispy Bar from Jumbeaux’s Cafe, Zootopia

Current Price: RMB$98 / US$14.43

Now we’re getting into the themed Zootopia snacks! Jumbeaux’s Cafe has a chocolate rice crispy bar that looks exactly like the Jumbo Pop ice cream popsicle from the movie. And let me tell you, it tastes very good as well. It’s basically a large chocolate bar filled with rice crispies. And don’t take the “large” adjective lightly, this thing is HUGE! It was about as long as my face, so you’ll definitely want to share this.

The Mini Big Donut from Jumbeaux’s Cafe, Zootopia

Current Price: RMB$58 / US$8.54

As I’ve already mentioned, I absolutely love chocolate. So when I found out that Zootopia was selling chocolate donuts, I knew I had to get some. I opted for the three smaller donuts but you can get one large one. The donuts were very fluffy and weren’t too sweet, which was good. This was actually the first snack I had at Shanghai Disneyland during my recent trip and it was a good way to start the trip.

Disney Zootopia Pawpsicle from Jumbeaux’s Cafe, Zootopia

Current Price: RMB$45 / US$6.63

Now we’re onto the most iconic snack in the park. The Zootopia Pawpsicle is a Hawthorne-flavored frozen popsicle that looks exactly like the ones from the movie. To be honest, I don’t know exactly what a Hawthorne is but to me it tasted very sweet and berry-like. It was very refreshing, especially on a hot almost-summer day. I highly recommend trying one during your visit to the park.

Barbossa’s BBQ Pork Ribs with Coconut Rice from Barbossa’s Bounty, Treasure Cove

Current Price: RMB$139 / US$20.71

You can see that I gravitated a lot towards barbecue dishes, and this was no exception. This was another of my favorite meals at the park. The pork ribs were so smokey and the rice and other sides just elevated the dish beyond my expectations. Also, the setting for the restaurant cannot be beat as well. If you decide to dine here, be sure to get a table by the water so you can see the boats go by! There’s a bunch of other tasty dishes here too aside from the ribs, such as the Roasted Jerk Chicken Leg with Mushroom Black Rice.

Takoyaki with Grilled Squid from The Snackin Kraken, Treasure Cove

Current Price: RMB$55 / US$8.10

It’s only right that we end this article with what I consider to be the undisputed king of Shanghai Disneyland snacks. The Takoyaki with Grilled Squid is the perfect snack for any seafood lover. The tangy, fishy taste of the takoyaki goes well together with the seafood-y taste of the grilled squid. If you’re a fan of takoyaki or have never had it before, I recommend giving this a try! If you aren’t into seafood though, maybe skip this one. This is the snack I regret not going back for during my trip, and will be first on my list to eat on my next trip.

The Best Food at Shanghai Disneyland Guide Conclusion

Shanghai Disneyland’s food scene is one that adventurous and non-adventurous eaters alike will enjoy. It has some superb dishes along with some very tasty snacks. Hopefully this guide was able to give you an idea of what kind of food at Shanghai Disneyland is worth making time (and stomach space) for.
