When I visited Shanghai Disneyland, I was pleasantly surprised by how good their food selection was. Just like every Disney Park there were some hits and misses, but overall I would say the food here was good. One meal was even the best quick service meal I’ve ever had at a Disney Park. Not only that but the theming of each of these restaurants is impeccable. But with many restaurants to choose from, how will you know which ones are worth dining in? That’s where this Shanghai Disneyland Quick Service Restaurants Ranking comes in.
In this ranking I will be judging each of the quick service restaurants in Shanghai Disneyland. I will be assessing them according to their Design and Theming, Service, Food Quality and Taste, Cost, Value for Money, and my own Personal Feelings. When it comes to rankings like this, everything is a matter of personal taste. What could be good to me might not be good to you. Just something to keep in mind as we go through this list.

What is Quick Service?

Before we begin the ranking, I thought it would be beneficial to actually explain what Quick Service means. Quick Service is one of two kinds of restaurants found in Disney Parks, the other being Table Service. In Quick Service restaurants, you’ll usually order your food at a cashier and pick up your food at a booth before bringing it to your table. This is in direct contrast to Table Service restaurants where a waiter will take your orders at your table and bring your food to you.
Shanghai Disneyland currently has 6 quick service restaurants. There is actually only 1 table service restaurant inside the park, since their other table service restaurant, Wandering Moon, has since become a shopping space. Since you’re most likely going to dine at these six establishments, I decided to exclude the table service restaurant from this ranking and just focus on the six quick service restaurants.
Without further ado, let’s begin!
6. Stargazer Grill

I will say that this being ranked here has a caveat, as I did like the food here more than the food in the restaurant ranked 5th. However, this is here mostly because I found the theming of the restaurant to be quite bland. It reminds me of an airport restaurant, which in itself sounds very dated for a restaurant that’s supposed to be in Tomorrowland. Plus with the new Pixar theming I feel like the restaurant has lost a bit of its direction in terms of theming and story.

I will say, though, that the food is actually pretty good. Their menu includes a mix of western and chinese dishes, such as burgers and curry rice. I had a bacon cheese wagyu beef burger and I thought it was one of the better theme park burgers that I’ve ever had. The presentation of the burger was good too, with a lot of Pixar touches present in the meal. The patty was juicy and flavorful, and the fries it came with were pretty good too. This is also one of the more affordable restaurants in the park.

I will say that, if you do eat here, get a table outside if it’s not too hot. I was eating there for dinner and was able to catch the sun setting over the park. You get a pretty nice view of Tomorrowland from the restaurant, with Tron Lightcycle Power Run rising majestically above the restaurant. It’s a pretty sight, which is why I would recommend eating here for dinner instead of lunch so you can see this amazing sunset view.
5. Pinocchio Village Kitchen

I probably had the worst restaurant meal of the trip at this restaurant, but it’s higher than the Stargazer Grill only because the theming of the restaurant is pretty good. I would say it’s maybe my second or third favorite restaurant in terms of theming. You really do feel like you’ve stepped into an Italian Village restaurant. Pinocchio-themed murals adorn the walls, and everything from the chairs to the tables all fit the Fantasyland village vibe.

The food I had here, however, was the only disappointing restaurant meal I had in the park. The food here is a mix of pizzas with Chinese fare, with the pizzas being what this restaurant is known for. I had the Winnie the Pooh Pineapple Pizza. It was ok for what it was, but I had heard people talk about this pizza online and the reviews were always glowing. So I assumed it would be the same when I tried it, but it wasn’t. I would suggest that you manage your expectations before trying this dish, or better yet, try another dish in the restaurant. This restaurant, like Stargazer Grill, is on the more affordable side though.

Do note that, as I learned the hard way, this restaurant closes an hour earlier than the park usually does. I walked in 15 minutes before closing and had to rush order some food as the restaurant was going to close. I didn’t have time to go to another restaurant so I ordered as fast as I could and as soon as I got my food they closed the doors. Just something to keep in mind.
4. Duffy and Friends Celebration Hall

This is technically the newest restaurant in the park, but it was rethemed to a Duffy and Friends restaurant in the last few years. Half the area is now a Duffy store, with the other half being the dining area. The dining area is really cute. There are Duffy and Friends decorations peppering every area of the restaurant, from the ordering counters to the dining area. I thought the theming was very cute, and the food didn’t disappoint either.

The food in this restaurant is tropical-inspired, with seafood and asian inspired cuisine. I had the Black Truffle Beef with Egg and Sausage Rice. The presentation was adorable as the sausage rice had a Duffy face on it (do note, however, that as of this writing the Duffy face is not edible. Don’t make the same mistake I did). The beef was also really tender and the portion size was also decent for the price. This is one of the more expensive restaurants in the park, just something to keep in mind.

Like Pinocchio Village Kitchen, this restaurant closes around 1 hour before the park closes. If you’d like to eat here, I recommend eating here for lunch. The main dining area is small, so just anticipate that you may have to sit outside if the main area is full, like what I did. If you’re a Duffy and Friends fan, then this restaurant is a must-visit. Just keep the price in mind so you don’t get sticker shock.
3. Tangled Tree Tavern

I will admit that the Duffy and Friends Celebration Hall and Pinocchio Village Kitchen probably have better theming than Tangled Tree Tavern. However, the main ordering area of Tangled Tree Tavern is also amazing. Bursting with a lot of Tangled references and nods, it’s probably the second best ordering area next to Barbossa’s Bounty. However, the outdoor dining areas leave much to be desired. They’re minimally themed areas, to be honest.

However, this is ranked third because my absolute favorite meal in Shanghai Disneyland was from this restaurant. The food in this restaurant, just like a lot of the restaurants in this park, was a mix of Western and Asian dishes and flavors. I had the Pork Roll with Stewed Meat Sauce and Black Rice. The pork roll was crispy and bursting with so much flavor. The stewed meat sauce also added some kick to the meal. It was the one meal I wish I ate again during my entire trip, and I would walk all the way to the back of the park just to eat this. This restaurant is also one of the more affordable options in the park as well.

I would recommend eating here for lunch as this is the restaurant that closes the earliest among all the restaurants. I tried eating here for dinner but saw that it was already closed. It usually closes around 6:30pm, so make this a lunch spot if you really want to try the Pork Roll (which I recommend you do as it is the most fantastic dish I had in the entire park).
2. Mickey and Pals Market Cafe

Themed to a farmhouse, this restaurant has probably the second best theming in the entire park. The dining rooms are all impeccably themed, and the centralized ordering area has these gigantic murals. The murals depict various Disney characters doing various farming tasks like apple picking and hay collecting. It feels very grand when you’re in the middle of the room. I could spend hours taking in all the theming of this place.

Asian and Western dishes are the name of the game in this restaurant. I had the tomato wagyu beef meatball with spaghetti. The meatball is ginormous, and its size is probably why the meatball is mentioned first in the name of this dish ahead of the spaghetti. The wagyu beef meatball is so tender, and the tomato sauce adds so much to the dish. I will say that it was a different experience having to eat spaghetti with chopsticks. At the time there were no forks available, so I had to use chopsticks to eat the meal. This is one of the more expensive options, so be prepared for higher than average prices for meals.

This restaurant, like Stargazer Grill, closes when the park closes. It might be because it’s the restaurant closest to the entrance of the park, which means it’s the busiest restaurant the closer it gets to the nighttime spectacular. Because of its extended hours, I highly recommend eating here for dinner.
1. Barbossa’s Bounty

Without a doubt the best quick service restaurant in Shanghai Disneyland. The theming of the restaurant, from the exterior to the interior, is top notch. You really feel like you were dropped in the middle of a seaside Caribbean town. The dining rooms are bursting with life and detail, and every single dining area is a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds. It’s the one restaurant where I truly felt transported and immersed in a story.

The food here is no slouch either. The food is mainly seafood dishes, with a mix of other Asian and Western dishes as well. I had the Barbossa BBQ Pork Ribs with Coconut Rice. The ribs were smoky and delicious, and it was one of the biggest portion sizes I have ever seen at a Disney Park. The entire meal was also so filling, and after the Pork Roll from Tangled Tree Tavern this was my second favorite meal in the entire park. I would go back for it as well on my next trip to the park. This is probably mid-tier in terms of price when compared to the other restaurants.

I highly recommend dining by the water as you can see the Pirates of the Caribbean boats float by as you eat. But really, any dining room is worth it as they’re all chock full of theming and story. Delicious food and impeccable theming equals an over the top, fulfilling, and immersive theme park dining experience.
