Planning a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) and need a foundation to build your packing list on? Look no further! This Hong Kong Disneyland Packing List will detail all the items that I think are essential for a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. Figuring out what to pack for Hong Kong Disneyland can be a bit overwhelming, so hopefully this list can simplify and summarize all the things I think you should have when you visit the park.

Hong Kong Disneyland is a pretty unique Disney destination. It’s closest in weather to Florida, but is by far the warmest Disney Park in the world (or it is until Abu Dhabi opens up). That makes it particularly unique to pack for. In this post I’ll be going through my personal HKDL packing list and explain why each item will help make your trip to HKDL a lot more enjoyable. Let’s begin!

Klook.comHow the Weather Will Affect Your Hong Kong Disneyland Packing List

The weather in Hong Kong is tropical, humid, and usually warm. Of course during the months of November to April, the weather can be somewhat cooler. But for the most part the weather in Hong Kong is relatively warm. This is especially true in the summer months when temperatures can exceed 36 Celsius, with the real feel sometimes being even warmer than that.
Because of this, you’re going to need things in your packing list that cool you down. This is very important as it will keep you going even in the heat when you’re visiting during the warmer months of the year. I’ve visited once in June and once in July and let me tell you it would’ve been unbearable if it hadn’t been for the things I packed to keep me cool. Your clothing will also be crucial in this situation, so be sure to pack light, breezy clothing if going in the warm months.

Another important thing to consider is the rain. It rains a LOT in Hong Kong, similarly to Florida. You will need things to protect you from the rain. And along with the rain comes a lot of insects, such as mosquitoes, so you’re going to want to bring insect repellent or other things that repel mosquitoes.
Now that you have a general idea of the kind of weather in Hong Kong and how you need to pack for it, let’s get right into my Hong Kong Disneyland Packing List so you know what to pack for a Hong Kong Disneyland trip.
Klook.comWhat to Pack
Disney Shirts

I always recommend people wear Disney shirts on their trips to the park. This goes not just for Hong Kong Disneyland but for any Disney trip packing list. I usually wear shirts I’ve bought from the parks, which you can probably get online or at your local Disney Store (if you still have one near you). You may also get shirts for cheap from online retailers like Amazon or in-person retailers like Target. Should you want to go all out, you can get matching custom made shirts for you and your party. You’ll see a ton of people walking around in them at the parks.
Light Shirts for Warmer Months
If, however, Disney themed shirts aren’t your thing, then I would say to include light and breezy shirts into your Hong Kong Disneyland Packing List. Hong Kong Disneyland can get hot so it’ll be beneficial for making sure you don’t overheat or sweat too much at the park. Trust me, as someone who’s gone to HKDL in the summer twice, the breezier your shirts, the better.
Klook.comShorts for Warmer Months

Similar to the shirts, you’re going to want to pack shorts or skirts for your trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. The real feel at the park can hit 40 Celsius at the height of the summer, so wearing shorts is necessary or else you’ll be sweating through your pants in the dangerously high and humid Hong Kong heat.
Jackets for Winter
Just like how it’s going to be hot in the summer, it’s going to be chilly in the winter. For that reason, you should definitely bring a jacket if you’re visiting from late December to Early March. Doesn’t need to be a bubble jacket, but an extra layer will do wonders for the cold, especially in January and February. If you run cold like me, however, you’re going to want to bring a thicker jacket.
Klook.comLong Pants for Winter

Just like for the jackets, long pants are a must when visiting in winter. They don’t have to be thick, but it can get chilly, especially at night, so to prevent your legs from freezing, having a pair of long pants handy on your Hong Kong Disneyland Packing List is essential in case the nights and early morning have you feeling a little cold.
Neck Fan / Portable Fan
If visiting in the summer months, then a neck fan or a portable fan will do wonders for your heat tolerance. I brought a neck fan to my last visit to Hong Kong Disneyland and let me tell you it made the heat and humidity so much more bearable. Hong Kong heat is even worse than Los Angeles heat, so anything that can help you deal with the heat is a must-have.
Klook.comCooling Towels

Another way to stay cool is by using cooling towels. I personally have never used them, but I know a lot of people who bring them all the time to the parks. They’re very refreshing and will give you a little cool respite during the intense heat of the day.
Umbrella
An umbrella is essential to any Hong Kong Disneyland Packing List, especially during the summer and rainy months. One thing you’ll notice when visiting Hong Kong Disneyland is guests don’t just use umbrellas in the rain. A lot of guests will be using them to shield themselves from the heat of the sun as they’re walking around the park and while waiting for parades and other outdoor shows. I would follow their example, especially in the months of June to September.
Klook.comRain Jacket or Poncho

As expected for a city with a tropical climate, Hong Kong experiences a lot of rain. In order to keep dry, I recommend bringing a rain jacket or poncho to the park. This will help keep you dry as you walk around the park. If you can, also purchase plastic shoe covers to make sure your feet are dry, or better yet wear sandals when you know it’s going to rain while you’re at the park.
Comfortable Walking Shoes
Speaking of shoes, you’re probably going to be walking more than 20,000 steps while you’re at the park. Bring your most comfortable pair of walking shoes in order to prevent your feet from feeling sore and achy after a day at the park. That being said, HKDL usually gets tiring even for the most physically fit of people, so do yourself a favor and get comfortable shoes you can walk for miles in.
Klook.comHat or Cap

Enter this into another “must have at Disney to combat the sun” category. I never go to a Disney Park without a cap or hat of some kind. It’s great to protect your head from the sun while also keeping the sun out of your eyes. You can also get cute Disney hats and caps online to match your shirts, completing your whole ensemble.
Sunscreen
The Hong Kong sun is incredibly harsh. If you want to avoid getting sunburnt, I suggest bringing sunscreen and applying it as needed throughout the day. This is especially true for the warmer months, but applying sunscreen is good practice no matter what time of year you visit the park. Be sure to get separate sunscreen for your face and your body.
Klook.comMosquito Repellent

Your Hong Kong Disneyland packing list should include Mosquito Repellant. Hong Kong Disneyland, especially Adventureland, can be teeming with mosquitoes, so much so that the hotels offer free insect repellent during the wet months of the year. I would bring some along with you, however, just to be safe and so you can reapply as needed.
Pin Bag / Lanyard
If you’re big into Disney Pin Trading, you’ll be happy to know that the tradition is still alive and well in Hong Kong Disneyland. You’ll find tons of pins in every gift shop scattered throughout the park. I recommend carrying a portable pin bag to make sure your pins are safe. But you can also purchase a lanyard at the park if you want to carry your pins more traditionally.
Klook.comReusable Bag

Hong Kong Disneyland does not use plastic bags anymore. If you’re planning on buying merch and don’t want to pay for the reusable bags that they sell at the park, then including a reusable bag in your Hong Kong Disneyland packing list is a must. You could buy the ones at the park, however, as they come in a variety of cute designs.
Power Banks and Cords
Your phone will inevitably run out of juice while you’re at the park, so I recommend bringing your own portable charger and cable instead of buying the ones at the park. The ones at the park don’t really charge your phone that well, and bringing your own means you can charge your phone multiple times throughout the day.
Klook.comReusable Water Bottle

One of the biggest ways you can save money while at Hong Kong Disneyland is to not buy bottled water. I would suggest bringing a reusable water bottle that you can refill at the many bottle refilling stations located around the park. They’re usually located by restrooms, although not every restroom will have one. You can find the nearest one by looking it up on the map on the Hong Kong Disneyland app.
Retractable Tripod
Unlike other Disney Parks, Hong Kong Disneyland allows you to bring in tripods as long as they are retractable and fit in your backpack. This is helpful in case you want to take pictures with everyone in your party without leaving the quality of your picture up to a random person you ask.
