Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) is a fun destination to visit no matter how many people there are in your group. I would say, however, that while most people go to Disney Parks with their friends or families, a significant portion of visitors are also visiting solo. When I was living in Los Angeles I used to visit Disneyland by myself all the time. Some of my favorite memories are of me exploring the parks alone, and it’s because of those memories that I was inspired to write this Hong Kong Disneyland Solo Traveler Tips post.

Being a solo traveler has its perks. The biggest perk is that you can go at your own pace. You don’t have to wait for anyone and you get to do whatever you want to do when you want to do it. If you want to take a bathroom break, you can do that as you please. If you want to ride a ride 3 times straight, no one is there to stop you. The biggest drawbacks would be that you have no one to talk to when you’re in long lines and there’s no one to share the experience with. You’re going to have to take these things into account if you decide to go on a solo trip to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Hong Kong Disneyland is probably the easiest Disney Park to tour, and that distinction extends to solo traveling too. My Hong Kong Disneyland Solo Traveler Tips will help you make sure you have a successful solo adventure to this one-of-a-kind Disney Park. These tips are borne of my extensive experience at the park. Hopefully they can elevate your experience at HKDL into an incredibly memorable one. Let’s get to it!

1) Utilize Single Rider Lines

Single Rider Lines are a great way to skip the regular queues of popular attractions. Single Rider lines are generally used by cast members to fill in empty single seats on attractions in case there are unoccupied seats. What this means is if there is an empty seat on a ride, cast members will then pull a guest from the single rider line to fill the empty spot.

At Hong Kong Disneyland, only a few attractions offer this service. The two attractions that for sure have this no matter what time of year you visit are Toy Soldier Parachute Drop and Space Mountain. I have heard from multiple sources that Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars also has this service, but I haven’t seen it personally and when I was last at Hong Kong Disneyland in July 2025 there was no indication that the service was being used in the attraction.

I personally really like using Single Rider lines. I wish there were more attractions at HKDL with single rider lines. RC Racer, Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, the Iron Man Experience, and Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs would all benefit from the addition of a single rider line. As a Hong Kong Disneyland Solo Traveler, you would be wise to use these queues as they will save you a lot of time in line.

2) Buy Tickets on Klook

Another tip I have for anyone looking to travel to Hong Kong Disneyland solo is to book your tickets through Klook. Klook prices are usually cheaper than buying from Hong Kong Disneyland directly. In most cases they’ll even make the park reservation for you (although I would check this before you purchase your tickets with them).

In addition to buying park tickets, you can also buy premier access packages and meal vouchers on Klook. I would highly recommend checking out the Klook website and sifting through their packages. They usually have some sort of ticket deal going on at any given time, which can save you even more money on your trip. It’s the best travel website to use if you want to buy your tickets via a third party, and is what I recommend you use on this Hong Kong Disneyland Solo Traveler Tips guide.

3) Bring a Tripod

If you’re the kind of person that is into taking pictures and you’re like me and don’t like asking other people to take your picture, then definitely consider bringing a small tripod. As long as the tripod fits in your bag and isn’t a selfie stick, then you’re free to use it in Hong Kong Disneyland.

If you’re wondering where the best places to take pictures are, I would recommend Main Street, the Hub in front of the castle, Fairy Tale Forest, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point (and the Garden of Wonders), Toy Story Land, Adventureland, and It’s a Small World. I would recommend getting a tripod that is retractable and has relatively short feet so you can fit it into your bag. This’ll make your experience with security more pleasant.

4) Bring a Packet of Tissues to Reserve Tables at Restaurants

If you want to dine at any of the popular quick service restaurants but are traveling to Hong Kong Disneyland solo and can’t reserve a table and order food at the same time, then I highly recommend bringing a towel or a pack of tissues or a water bottle that you can leave on the table to reserve it while you order food. I’ve seen a couple of people do this, particularly at Royal Banquet Hall because of how full that restaurant gets.

To avoid having to do this, I also recommend eating at off-peak times. Having lunch at 11am or 2:30pm means avoiding the main lunch rush which then means you won’t even have to reserve a table. The same goes with dinner. Having dinner at 5pm will mean avoiding the time when everyone will be heading to the restaurants for dinner.

5) Get a Spot for Momentous on Main Street

Since you’re a Hong Kong Disneyland solo traveler, you don’t really need to concern yourself with getting a spot on Main Street for Momentous early. Unless you’re visiting on a holiday, you should be able to get a spot on Main Street pretty easily. I once walked up 10 minutes before showtime and found an amazing spot halfway up Main Street.

If, however, you want to watch closer to the castle, I would recommend being 30 minutes early for the show. Spots right in front of the castle are very popular areas to view Momentous, but in my opinion the novelty of being in front of the castle has faded after they added projections along the length of main street. Most of the action still happens on the castle, but the castle is so big that you can usually make out what is projected on it from far away. So I wouldn’t worry too much about Momentous.

6) Use a Meal Voucher

If you want to save a little bit of money on your solo trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, then I would highly recommend buying a meal voucher. How meal vouchers work is you pre-pay for a lunch meal, dinner meal, and a snack of either popcorn or ice cream. The only downside to using these meal vouchers is you need to stick to the amount designated for the voucher or above it as going under will result in your savings getting reduced.

For example, if you have a lunch credit worth HK$180, then that means you maximize the value of the voucher by purchasing something for exactly HK$180. If you buy something worth more, then you will have to pay the excess but you are left even because you would have to pay the same amount if you didn’t buy the voucher. You could theoretically buy something for less value, but buying something for less means sacrificing some of the value of the voucher. I would recommend looking at the menus beforehand to confirm the prices for the things you want to eat. You can buy vouchers on klook

7) Take the MTR to the Resort

Finally, regardless of where you’re coming from, be it the airport or the city, I would recommend taking the MTR or the metro rail to get to the resort. There are really only two ways to get to HKDL from anywhere in Hong Kong: by taxi or by MTR. Taxis, when traveling solo, can be a little expensive, especially if you have bags. I would recommend traveling by taxi if you’re in a group, but since you’re doing it solo, the MTR is your best bet.
