Believe it or not, you don’t have to get to Hong Kong Disneyland via an expensive taxi ride. Klook.comWhere is Hong Kong Disneyland located?

HKDL is located on Lantau Island. It’s the island that makes up the western part of Hong Kong. Other attractions and notable places also located on Lantau Island include the Ngo Ping 360, Tai O Fishing Village, the Hong Kong International Airport, Tung Chung, and the Asia World Expo.
Lantau Island is actually pretty remote when compared to where most of Downtown Hong Kong is located. On a good day it’ll take you about an hour to get from Downtown Hong Kong to the resort, depending on the mode of transportation you use. Because of this, I would recommend leaving about 90 minutes before the time you intend to arrive at the park. This will ensure that you get to the park on time and will account for delays you may encounter during your commute.
Now as a tourist, you’ll most likely be going to HKDL from one of two places: either from the airport or from the city. I’ll detail how to get to Hong Kong Disneyland from these places down below.
How to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland From the Airport

There are three possible ways to get to the resort if you’re coming from the airport. Some of them take longer than others, but in general it should take less time to get to HKDL from the airport than the city since, as mentioned, they’re on the same island.
Bus

Taking the bus from the airport to HKDL may seem convoluted at first, but it’s actually fairly easy to understand. I have never personally taken the bus from the airport to the resort, but after doing some research I’ve found out that it’s actually pretty simple to get from the airport to HKDL.
The first thing you’re going to do is get an Octopus card. The Octopus card is Hong Kong’s metro and public transport card. If you’re going to be visiting areas outside the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, this How to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland guide highly recommends getting an Octopus card as the fares for Octopus cards are usually less than the full fare. You can get one at the airport at the MTR Customer Service Center or at 7/11, both of which are at the arrival hall. You’ll have to pay a HK$50 deposit for the card but you get this back when you surrender your card at an MTR customer service center at the end of your trip.
The second thing you’re going to do is follow the signs that say “To City” that lead out of the arrival hall. Then, follow the signs that say “Bus” and they’ll take you to the Hong Kong International Airport bus station. You’ll find a board that lists all the bus lines and the corresponding bus fares.

You’re going to want to get on a bus that starts with the letters A or E. These buses go to the Lantau Link Toll Plaza, which is where you’re going to transfer buses to get to Hong Kong Disneyland. In general, the E routes are cheaper than the A routes but the E routes stop at more stations before arriving at the Lantau Link Toll Plaza. If you’re in a hurry, this How to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland guide taking an A bus to get to Hong Kong Disneyland faster, even though it is more expensive.
Once you’ve picked out the bus you want to take, head over to the bus and scan your card. Then, go on the bus and leave your luggage in the storage area. Don’t worry, there are cameras in the storage area that transmit to TVs located all over the bus, so you can keep an eye on your bag at all times.
After arriving at the Lantau Link Toll Plaza, collect your belongings and look for the bay for Bus R8. It should be on the other side of where you were dropped off, through a pedestrian tunnel. Once there, board the R8 bus, which should take you straight to the Hong Kong Disneyland Public Transport Interchange. From there, hop on a free shuttle to take you to one of the three HKDL resort hotels.
The bus from the airport to the Lantau Link Toll Plaza should cost no more than HK$50 depending on which bus you ride. The bus from the Lantau Link Toll Plaza to HKDL should cost around HK$7.
As you can see, it’s pretty straightforward and cheap to get to Hong Kong Disneyland from the airport by bus. But next I’m going to talk about the method of transport I use the most to get to Hong Kong Disneyland: the taxi.
Klook.comTaxi

Taxis are by far the most convenient form of transportation to get to HKDL from the airport. The journey will take 15-20 minutes and will cost between HK$150 and HK$250 depending on how many bags you may have with you. Do take note that sometimes you will need to hire 2 cabs to take you to Hong Kong Disneyland if your bags do not fit in one.
Just like taking the bus, follow the signs that say “To City” and then follow the sign that says “Taxi”. You’ll then reach the taxi bay where all the taxis are lined up in three rows. The thing you need to know about Hong Kong taxis is that they are color coded depending on the area they serve. Red taxis service the Urban districts of Hong Kong, Green taxis service the New Territories, and Blue taxis service Lantau Island.

As previously mentioned in this How to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland guide, HKDL is located on Lantau island, so I would recommend heading for the blue taxis. Any of the three kinds of taxis will take you to Hong Kong Disneyland, but the blue ones are slightly cheaper because they serve Lantau Island. Tell the driver which resort hotel you’re going to or if you’re going to the park. You don’t need to negotiate with them as all taxis are metered. Then hop in the taxi and enjoy your ride to the resort.
This is the least economical way to get to HKDL, especially for Solo travelers, but if you want your journey to the resort to be hassle free, especially since you’re coming from a presumably long travel day, then this is the transport option that makes the most sense.
I wouldn’t recommend using Uber, mostly because Hong Kong’s transportation system is so robust that you won’t need it. In addition, it is illegal to use Uber in Hong Kong so to stay on the safe side I wouldn’t recommend booking Ubers while in Hong Kong.
Airport Express MTR

For those of you who want to experience Hong Kong’s robust MTR system, it is possible to take the MTR from the airport to HKDL! It’ll involve two transfers, but neither of the transfers are too complicated and, if you’re exploring the city after your HKDL leg, it’ll be the perfect opportunity to get a feel of the MTR system.
Just like with taking the bus, the first thing you’re going to do is get an Octopus card. As mentioned in this How to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland guide, I highly recommend getting an Octopus card as the fares for Octopus cards are usually cheaper. Visit the MTR Customer Service Center or the 7/11 at the arrival hall to get your Octopus Card. There’s a HK$50 deposit for the card that will be refunded to you once you surrender the card at the end of your trip.
After purchasing an Octopus card, head on over to the Airport Express station. Airport Express is the name of the high-speed train that connects the Hong Kong International Airport to the city. It stops at a few key stops on the way to Hong Kong station. Trains leave in 10 minute intervals everyday from 05:54 to 00:48.

To get to HKDL, you’re going to take the train to Tsing Yi station. From there, you’re going to change to the Tung Chung Line and head for Sunny Bay station. Once you’re at Sunny Bay, change lines to the Disneyland Resort Line. You won’t be able to miss the Disneyland Resort Line trains. They’re full of Disney touches like Mickey shaped windows and the interiors have Disney character statues scattered throughout the train.
Once at Disneyland station, you can walk from the station to the park or you can head to the Public Transport Interchange and take the free shuttle bus to your Disney resort hotel.
It’ll cost you HK$73 to get from the airport to Tsing Yi with an Octopus Card and HK$80 to get from the airport to Tsing Yi without an Octopus Card. From Tsing Yi to Disneyland station, the fare can be anywhere from HK$15 to HK$17 per adult depending on whether you’re using an Octopus Card or not.
Taking the train isn’t the fastest because you will have to double back from Tsing Yi as the Airport Express train actually passes Sunny Bay to get to Tsing Yi. It can be economical, as compared to a taxi, if you’re traveling solo or in a pair. If you’re in a group of 3 or 4 (and again depending on the number of luggages you have and how many taxis you would need to take), it may be cheaper to split a taxi fare to get to the resort over taking the Airport Express.
Bus and MTR

Another way to get to HKDL that combines both the bus and the MTR is to take the E buses from the airport to Tung Chung and then hop on the Tung Chung line to get to Sunny Bay then connect to the Disneyland Resort Line. This How to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland guide does not recommend doing this if you have luggage with you as it involves getting on a bus and then getting to an underground MTR station, but if you want to bypass the expensive Airport Express, this could be an option for you.
Klook.comHow to Get to Hong Kong Disneyland From the City

Just like getting from the Airport to Hong Kong Disneyland, there are three ways to get to HKDL from the city. I’ve personally only used two of them to get to the resort, and each come with their pros and cons.
Bus
Two bus lines go from the city to the resort. Those are bus line R33, which leaves from Tuen Mun Station and bus line R42 which leaves from Tai Wai station. It’ll cost you around HK$20-HK$30 to get to Hong Kong Disneyland from these stations. The only downside is that they will take longer than both the MTR and the taxi to get to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Taxi
You can take a taxi from anywhere in Hong Kong to HKDL. If you’re coming from Downtown Hong Kong like Kowloon or Hong Kong Island, it’ll cost you anywhere from HK$150 to as high as HK$300 depending on how many bags you have and the traffic situation. This makes it by far the most expensive option, although you’re paying for convenience as it will take you around 30 to 50 minutes to get there from Hong Kong Island.
MTR

To take the MTR from anywhere in Hong Kong to HKDL, be sure to take the shortest or fastest route to connect to the orange Tung Chung line. From there, just like getting from the airport to HKDL, head to Sunny Bay station and transfer from there to the Hong Kong Disneyland resort line, which will take you directly to the Hong Kong Disneyland Public Transport Interchange.
It’ll take you anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour to get to Hong Kong Disneyland from Downtown Hong Kong. It’ll also cost you around HK$15 to HK$35 to get to Hong Kong Disneyland from Downtown Hong Kong, depending on your station of origin. This is the easiest form of public transit to get to Hong Kong Disneyland from the city and is relatively inexpensive, especially for smaller groups. It’s also a lot cheaper than getting from the Airport to Hong Kong Disneyland because you don’t have to use the Airport Express, which is the most expensive MTR line in the city.
