Walt Disney A Magical Life Virtual queue cover

Disney announced today that the new Walt Disney audio animatronic show, dubbed Walt Disney – A Magical Life, will use a virtual queue system when it opens on July 17, 2025. This comes after weeks of speculation on how Disney would manage crowds at the attraction given the expected high demand to see the show.

Just like most other virtual queue systems at Disneyland, there will be two opportunities to join the virtual queue. Virtual queue passes will drop at 7am for guests with a park reservation for Disneyland Park and at 12noon for guests who have scanned in to Disneyland Park (with a one day ticket or park hopper) or DCA (with a park hopper).

I expected that a virtual queue system would be in place for this attraction and am a bit surprised that it took this long for them to announce it. My guess is that it took a while for them to decide on if they were going to use a virtual queue system in the first place. But I guess high guest demand eventually swayed them to use the virtual queue system.

However, two questions arise from this announcement. Firstly, what kind of return time will you receive for joining the virtual queue? Will you receive a specific showtime, like at 3:20pm for example, and then be locked in to that show time? Or will you receive a one-hour return time window similar to other virtual queues that have popped up at Disneyland in recent years. My guess is the latter, but it also now begs the question of is there is space in the Disney gallery to handle the influx of guests who will descend on the show with overlapping return times.

Another question I have is how long the show will have a virtual queue. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had one for about two months, with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway having one for just two weeks. Given that this probably has a lower capacity than those two attractions, it might run a bit longer than Tiana’s or at least run into the end of the summer season. That would be my prediction.
